Children need escalation, evacuation from Gaza to better care

Speaking from a clinic in Gaza, nurse practitioner Behar Abbasi explains the urgent need for child-patient evacuation from Gaza.

“There is injury and disease beyond the capabilities of medical and health care infrastructure of Palestine, hence the patients in Gaza must be evacuated to advanced health care and disease mitigation centers, perhaps in Europe, via Egypt, and I mean urgently, before the weekend, in the worst cases. We have the top brass from The RINJ Foundation here and they have put their shoulders to the wheel, but they say there are limits on capability that are life threatening to patients who stay here.

“It is time that the European Union and the rest of the West acknowledge that they have backed the most horrifically immoral genocide since Hitler massacred Jews in the Holocaust of World War II,” said Ms. Abbasi.

“If the perpetrators of these crimes do not step up and relieve the human suffering in Gaza, especially for thousands of women and children, they only add to their complicity and add to the evidence of their motivation and intent for these crimes.

“We are talking mostly about children and their mothers who suffer injuries from attacks with devastating burning bombs and now disease on top of their injuries.

“We are talking about crush injuries for which we do not have functional imaging diagnostics to aid in the children’s treatment. The numbers that will die from injuries and disease will be greater than the near 20,000 killed or missing from your bombings,” the exhausted medical worker said into her satellite phone.

Humanitarians in Gaza have done all they can do with the scant resources they posess. With the weather turning cold and the patients growing more ill, survivors of this holocaust need to be moved to clean, well-supplied hospitals in Europe or elsewhere.

Kids are people too.
