Canada flattens 4th COVID-19 Wave proving Vaccines Work
“Vaccination is one of the most cost-effective public health interventions in infectious disease outbreaks if it is made accessible and acceptable to the people,” according to Dr. Chandrakant Lahariya in Vaccine epidemiology, 2016.
Canada is on its way to becoming a model for how to thwart SARS2 waves, while proving vaccines work.
The latest COVID-19 surge in Canada started exactly on 29 July 2021. Rising in active cases to 30,829 from 5,164 active cases in that period, the fourth wave in Canada is an event of fewer deaths than the first three pandemic waves according to IHME, CSPaC, and CSSE at Johns Hopkins University
The worst hit regions of Canada, are Alberta, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest Territories.
These three locations have the lowest percentage of vaccination of their over-12 population according to Health Canada’s reported data.
“Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan are still driving the current surge although infections in Ontario are slowing down, according to our daily reports from public health units there,” says Kathy Poon who is a biostatistician on the CSPaC .SARS-CoV-2 tracking team in Singapore.

“I adduce that Canada is quashing a fourth wave slowly, and my supervisors agree with this conclusion,” said Ms. Poon who is also a medical practitioner, specialized in infectious diseases.
“There are two factors to this observation—and the most significant factor is the very high level of vaccinations in Canada reaching 75% of the over-12 population,” she added.
“The other factor is that Canadians are less mask-averse than their American counterparts, and this factor is saving children’s lives. Presently, COVID-19 is decimating the United States’ population killing between one and two thousand persons per day in the period of the study in August 2021,” she added.
According to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) its scientists are forecasting 738,776 reported USA COVID-19 deaths and 1,150,291 USA excess COVID-19 deaths, in the United States alone, based on current projection scenario by December 1, 2021. The United States has a much poorer vaccination level than does Canada.
At Ms. Poon’s suggestion FPMag asked her team lead for the full details of the recent study analysis:
“Canadians can shout from the hilltops when they reach a vaccination level of 95% of the entire population, but the granular analysis of August 2021 tells us a bundle of information supporting an even more aggressive vaccination campaign—actually a very strong vaccination mandate is in order,” says Fred Harris, a biostatistician and infectious disease researcher leading the CSPaC .SARS-CoV-2 tracking team in Singapore.
“It is safe to say that people who are unvaccinated are going to die from COVID-19 eventually,” says expert.
“That’s the best way I have of explaining the data we are now seeing, using real, live data from Canada, chosen because of its high rate of vaccinations using a varied range of vaccine types.”
‘Globally, SARS2 VOC will infect an increasingly narrow segment of communities, specifically the unvaccinated, vociferously, in wave after wave, killing between 2% and 9% of the unprotected infected,’ says expert.
“The variants of concern of the SARS2 virus will infect an increasingly narrow segment of communities around the globe, specifically the unvaccinated, vociferously, in wave after wave, two waves per year, over the next five to ten years or more, killing between 2% and 9% of the unprotected infected, sometimes with COVID-19 long-term maladies comprising a comorbid condition to new infection by a different variant.”
“I could say a lot about why we chose Canada but that’s the best summary. The cross section of Canada is somewhat of a mosaic representing all the variables of the world in terms of social paradigms. Canadians seem to be following the American antivaxxer movement and the anti-masker movement but tolerating only a modicum of influence.”
“This radical anti-science culture seems to thrive among the lower-educated and seemingly credulous populations which also tend to be right-wing political junkies. It was shocking to see evidence of a preponderance of this movement’s members who actually are supporters of political actors outside their own country. America’s former President, Donald Trump has a strong following in Alberta and Ontario according to analysis of over 112 videos of political and protest rallies in Canada over the past twelve months,” said Dr. Harris.
The consensus among millions of medical professionals is that vaccines and masks work to prevent spread of SARS2.
